ISLAM The Lifestyle · Information Centre app · Last updated 6 September 2026
This policy explains what information the ISLAM The Lifestyle information centre app collects, why, and who it is shared with. The app is operated by Pandaux Studio on behalf of the Islamic information centre in which it is installed.
How the app is used
The app runs on touchscreen kiosks in a public information centre. There are two kinds of people involved:
- Visitors browse articles, image galleries and videos on the kiosk. Visitors are not asked to sign in and are not asked for any personal information.
- Authorised staff and operators sign in with a Google account to set up and manage the kiosk. Sign-in is used only to confirm that a person is authorised to operate the app.
What we collect
- Google account email address, name and account identifier. Collected only when a staff member signs in, to confirm that the person is authorised to operate the kiosk and to apply their permission level.
- Crash diagnostics. Error details, device model, operating system version, app version and an app installation identifier, collected automatically if the app crashes or encounters an error, so that faults can be diagnosed and fixed.
- Search terms typed into the app. Collected when the search feature is used, in order to return search results.
- App settings, favourites and downloaded content. Stored during normal use so the kiosk works without an internet connection. This stays on the device and is not sent to us.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not access the camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files on the device. The app requests no device permissions other than internet access.
- We do not show advertising and do not use advertising identifiers.
- We do not use analytics or tracking to build profiles of visitors.
- We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Services we rely on
The app uses the following third-party services. Each may receive technical information such as an IP address when the app contacts it.
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Crashlytics) and Google Sign-In — staff sign-in and crash reporting. Privacy policy
- Google Fonts — downloads the typefaces used in the app. Privacy policy
- Sanity — stores and delivers the articles, images and other content shown. Privacy policy
- Algolia — powers the in-app search. Privacy policy
- Vimeo — hosts and delivers the videos shown in the app. Privacy policy
How long we keep information
Staff account details are kept for as long as that person remains authorised to operate the app, and are removed when their access is withdrawn. Crash diagnostics are retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days. Content downloaded onto a kiosk for offline use stays on that device until the app's cache is cleared or the app is removed.
Children
The app is an information display in a public venue and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, other than the account details of authorised staff who choose to sign in.
Your rights
If you are an authorised operator and would like to see, correct or delete the account information we hold about you, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to processing or to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
